While growing up, the resounding theme heard time and again from my mother was, "I cannot wait for you to have a little girl. Karma really is a bee!" Well, touche mom. Years later you won that round on a daily basis in this house. Thanks for that.
The past few weeks have been hell. Complete and utter hell. From the time Monkey gets up all we do is set and reestablish boundaries for the day. Ironically enough, they have not changed from the previous day or the day before that or the day before that....See where I'm going with this? Needless to say, frustration has hit an all time high. So like any other Millennial Mom out there, I took to Facebook looking for a magical way to correct behavioral issues and make my house blissful once again!
The post yielded mostly a lot of reassurance that I don't suck with a few new tricks to try. After feeling better about ourselves, and a little conversation to figure out some sort of plan that will just blow up anyways, My husband and I agreed that we will be surrendering our basement and converting it into a jungle gym fit for our little Queen of the Jungle! Long story short....this renovation is not what this post is about ;)
As I opened my Facebook notifications this afternoon, I was greeted with an article a friend sent me. The article's title, Poorly Behaved Children Earn More Money As Adults, instantly lit my face up and I even gave it a giggle. Mostly guessing as to what the article said, I read through it and slowly nodded my head the entire time. Could this really be my life???
For all that do not know, but can probably guess, my Monkey is one of the most loving, strong willed, highly spirited, most stubborn little Diva I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And, as you can guess from the opening, we fight constantly trying to mold her into the awesome person we know she can be. From the first day she started showing us her strength and determination, I always said that she will be a force to be reckoned with in the Board Room one day. It's reassuring to know that my inner feelings are theoretically right on target! And as my friend stated "I'm just raising a girl to take care of me through my old age"! There's always a silver lining to everything ;)
